1963 Split Window Corvette restoration being done by Don Campbell of Gaylord, Michigan.

Corvette Restoration – Todays picture is from the past but thought it would be fun to show even many years ago I still enjoyed working in the shop. This picture was taken when we lived on Harrison Road in Alma, Michigan. You can see in the ploe barn my very first two brand new John Deere Tractors I ever bought . This was my third Corvette I bought and it was painted black and had flames painted on the side and other scenes painted on it that I didn’t care for. So i decided I wanted a little Red Corvette. This picture shows me with rubber gloves on in the process of removing the paint with paint stripper.
The fellow I bought the Vette from said it had 17 coats of paint on it but I only counted 15 coats , ha,ha. Deb and I were in Lansing, Mi. and we turned down a side street to take a short cut and I spotted this Vette behind a fence all covered with wet leaves. I told Deb I just saw a old Vette that wasn’t being driven so we turned around and sure enough it was a 1963 split window Corvette. After locating the owner we ended up agreeing on a price, the owner started it up and pulled it out into the front yard and the brakes failed and he rammed into his car and damaged the front corner of the vette. So we had to renagociate the price again because I still always wanted a split window Corvette. Once we got it home we drove it a few times in it’s black color with the flames painted on the sides. It also had header side pipes on it. I decided to also remove the side pipes and go back to stock exhaust. The first week of stripping paint was fun as I worked on it every night after work and on the weekend.
SUPERBOWL SUNDAY – Just in Case Brett Favre doesn’t win tomorrow Deb and I are going to pretend tomorrow is Superbowl Sunday , ha,ha. If the Vikings lose it will be the end of the football season for us with the Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre both done . It has been a great season and the team that makes the fewest mistakes tomorrow and plays the game the best deserves to win. No time for sloppy football now !!
FREEZING RAIN – It’s bad enough we got no new snow in three weeks, now we are getting freezing rain turning to pouring rain tomorrow. Very strange weather .
Hey Deb , What’s for Supper ? I took Deb out for supper to the Gobblers Turkey Resturaunt in Gaylord and we had homeade turkey noodle soup and some delicious fried mushrooms. YUM !
RUNNING – If the rains melts the ice on the roads tomorrow I might try going out and running outside . Deb and I continue to run on the treadmill and are doing great ! Just 21 days until race day and my 2nd ever official 5K race. But it will not be for a good time, it will be to run for fun with Nicole and Bill and make some cool memories of us running together. Deb will be busy at the finish line taking pictures.
Cat 797F Mining Truck Progress- I am working on the list of parts and it is getting shorter but still not done . Maybe now by Monday night. (:>).
Have a great Sat. !!!!!!!!!!!
