Gaylord Alpenfest 5K – This morning was the big race for me and todays picture shows me a few yards from the finish line. My finishing time was a 23.30 and I was very pleased with that considering my first ever race last fall was a 28.40 . My next training and next goal will be a 20 minute 5K . You can see in this picture I was finishing the race with four healthy younger runners and keeping their pace just fine. I ended up in second place for my age bracket. But my time was better than several hundred younger runners so I was very happy . I will work on losing another 15 to 20 lbs. and the next race should be easier and faster. I had a great cheering section that got up early this morning and it felt great . Thanks everyone !!
