Starting on a New Scratch Built Miniature Machine
Today I start building the Bron 550 Tile Plow miniature machine. I will be videoing my progress on this model each day in my workshop and posting the progress on YouTube. Please make sure to subscribe to my YouTube page so you don’t miss anything. It’s a great deal of work putting these videos together but knowing people are enjoying the videos and following along helps to keep me going.
Not a Kit
I’ve been asked many times in the past how I start out my projects. Do I get a kit of some kind? Exact measurements? Showing exactly how I make a new model through the video series will help answer that question. The quick answer is no, I do not start with any assistance other than a handful of photos and sometimes not even that.
Starting with Sheet Metal
All of my models start with 18 gauge sheet metal. No tricks, just a standard sheet. I tried 20 gauge and that was too thin to weld. I also tried 16 gauge and that was too thick to work with and too heavy. The 18 gauge is still a little heavy but it works great for tack welding. You can’t lay a bead on it, you just have to tack weld it. Then you have to sand the welds to get that nice smooth finish. The first parts will be cut tomorrow. Stay tuned.
Every day I will share the step by step progress of this Bron 550 Drainage Tile machine. Please subscribe and hit like to help us get my new YouTube Channel going again. Thanks!
