Toy Farmer
A couple of days ago I showed you a cover of Toy Farmer magazine where I was featured and told you how important that was to me (if you missed it, you can view it here: https://youtu.be/_YFhuwNPNxQ) Well, the second most important Toy Farmer magazine was the one that showcased by Potato Harvester. I was down in Birch Run and I needed some green John Deere paint so I stopped at the dealer to get a can and on the counter was a stack of about 30 of these Toy Farmer magazines with my Potato Harvester on the front. I was just in awe and thought it was so awesome to see a stack there with my model on the front. I’d guess I’ve probably been in about 45 different issues of Toy Farmer and probably 25 different issues on Toy Trucker. I’ve also been on TV about 3 times and in about 15 different newspapers. It’s all so crazy for me to think my little hobby is loved by so many different people. I appreciate all of the support I get from you guys.
Bron 550 Drainage Tile Plow Updates
In the past when I’ve made tracks, I bought conveyor chain that had the little tabs on them, so I would just have to make the track pad, bend them, then drill holes and bolt them on. However, because I now need such a variety of sizes, that method wasn’t working anymore. What I’ve decided to do instead is make my own tabs, bending them and tack welding them on there. Then I can make any size conveyor chain I want. The pads will be drilled and screwed in there. That gives me more freedom to do whatever sizes and whatever scale I want. The video shows some of the tabs and how that will all be put together.
I mentioned before it was going to take about 150 pieces to make this model but I was just kidding. It will end up being hundreds as there is going to be over 200 pieces just in the track systems with all of the bogey wheels, the pads and so on.
Also in the video you can see what looks to be a rough idea of the model but that’s not really what how it’s going to be. It just helps give me a general idea of how things are proportioned and the overall structure. Helps me visualize how everything goes together since there is still a great deal of guesswork in each model. I’ve built models for over 23 years so I guess I kind of have the hand of figuring things out this way.
