It has been quite a project and no doubt my biggest challenge yet. This model used two or three times more steel than any other model I have ever built. I’m guessing the weight at 1000 lbs. but it could be more than that.
I am very pleased how the finished model turned out considering I had less than ten angles to build it from . As always I know it is far from perfect and there are always people telling me negative things about every model I build. But I will focus on the positive comments .
I hand cut every part with a hand held band saw, a hand held nibbler , a hand held plasma cutter and a small 5 in. manual shear . Actual engineers tell me they could not do this with these tools. I also am pleased with the overall look of the model with everything looking the right proportion for all the guessing I had to do .
9/11 – A sad day today for so many people as we remember Nicole and Bill working in D.C. not far from the Pentagon . As they saw first hand the smoke rising over the city we were very scared not knowing their exact location .
It was a couple hours before Nicole could get through to us on the phone lines . We told Nicole to get in her car and leave the city and we were so upset and nervous . But our little girl explained to us everything was fine and it was God who decides when we die. Even though people die all sorts of ways it is God who decides . Her and Bill are very strong Christians and they walk the walk and we are very proud of them. So Nicole reminded us God might decide today or tomorrow it’s our last day and be sure to enjoy it. Have a nice Sunday .
