Train Repairs- I’m sure there are some big workshops for train repairs around the country. Workers doing body work and repainting them. Today I painted more of the navy blue parts and by tomorrow night I will have all the blue parts done. Next I will mix the paint for the yellow on the 15 foot long model. The yellow is brighter than Cat yellow but not as bright as John Deere Yellow so i will the yellow in between. You can see in this picture with the train in the sunlight it is brighter than Cat yellow. If all goes well , Thurs. I will start painting the first yellow sections.
Below Zero Painting – I was worried painting the model with the very cold temps outside . 10 or 15 degrees is our high temps this week and below zero in the morning. My two stage 5 gallon air compressor is in the unheated garage so i could not use it to paint. So I pulled my small 2 hp Craftsman compressor from the back shed paint room and it is in the nice warm shop and the paint is flowing perfect. I been heating up the shop to 80 degrees getting the metal nice and warm then letting it cool down to about 70 before painting . The paint is going on great.
I am very excited to get this beast painted and decaled and detailed inside the cab . Probably two more weeks . Then I will get going building the tracks and railroad ties that will be beneath it.
I will NOT be tearing it apart when it is completed, instead in the spring I will cut a 6×7 foot hole into the front garage and roll the Chessie through the door on 8 rubber wheels. I been wanting to do that for over a year.
Have a great Tues. !!
