Chuck Sword – Chuck is the owner of Sword Models and the person who puts on the annual DHS DIECAST Open House in Cleveland the third week in July. This will be our first trip to meet Chuck and to deliver several of my large scale models to the show. Chuck invited me to bring the Silver Spade to Cleveland last year to the DHS Open House but we had other commitments that weekend. Several of the toy collectors I build toys for said they are not going to Indy this year in Aug. to the National Truck and Construction Toy Show because of the slower economy. So we are excited to go to meet Chuck for the first time and meet some new toy people and his Cleveland area friends.
I will be delivering this Berliet 700 oilfiled truck for Kevin Anderson, the 10 foot long Euclid / Hoffman heavy haul rig to Mike Degar , the Dart Coal Hauler to Kevin, the Liebherr R9800 Mass Excavator to Leon , the O&K RH-400 Shovel to Leon and the Liebherr T-282 Haul Truck to Leon and I will bring the Cat 966C Loader Richie might be interested in buying.
So I will be moving a lot of steel from Michigan to Ohio in July , ha,ha.
So if you pass a Four Winns Motorhome loaded down with big trucks and big mining equipment , it will probably be Don and Debbie Campbell heading to Cleveland. (:>). I will have to be extra careful to drive careful around Sandusky , Ohio , those Ohio State Troopers around Sandusky are the busiest fellows on the whole turnpike, ha,ha. They definately are earning their pay. (:>).
Just don’t stop US ! , we are really impressed as long as you leave us alone, LOL
M.S.U. and U.CONN BASKETBALL – We have friends in Conn. and we have a lot of friends from M.S.U. so we enjoyed the basketball game last night and was hoping U conn would win ? NOT !! ha,ha.
TWO MORE DAYS OF SNOW IN GAYLORD- Most of the people from Gaylord have now made it to Florida and here we sit waiting for more snow , ha,ha. We used to go to D.C. in March and we always came home to a driveway full of snow. So this year we decided to wait til all signs of winter were over. Probably July, ? ha,ha. I hate this global warming ??
IT’S A MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD , WORLD- As a little boy , The first indoor theatre I ever went to was to see a movie called , it’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World.
I was so excited to see the huge screen and smell fresh popcorn and see all the candy at the candy counter. I still remember that day even at my young age the thrill of seeing and hearing the music and seeing so many movie stars so life like on the huge screen . And to hear everyone around me laugh out loud everytime something funny happened on the screen . I remember I never laughed so much or so hard the whole rest of my life as I did that afternoon in the theatre.
In fact , towards the end of the movie I think I was laughing harder and longer than anyone else and they were probably all staring at me ? LOL
But these days when I think of living in a Mad, Mad, Mad world I’m afraid it is not funny at all . It is a very sad world we now live in . I saw a man on the news yesterday robbing a store with a gun and his young daughter stood beside him. He told the cashier if he called the police , he would come back and kill him. I got tears in my eyes seeing that little girl lose her innocence at that moment . I know that moment in time will be etched her mind for the rest of her life. Now her dad is in Jail and she will never see him again . We see so much killing and crime on TV now days we are almost immune to it .
Sometimes I think of the great depression and how people had to think it really was the end of the world back then. Strangers would knock on peoples door asking to do work just for a meal in return.
Even though times are tough, I don’t things will ever get to that point again , we have too many smart people to let that ever happen again ??
But we are going to see many more people suffering before things get better .
Each night before I go to bed I pray for peace on earth and I pray somehow this will become a better world .
No matter how bad things get , I will still be thankful to God for letting me live this long and having Deb in my life and thankful for a nice family. I have moments when I question God’s plans for all of us , but I stand fast on believing in him and believing his only Son died for us on a cross so we too can make the choice to live for eternity in Heaven.
We really need to bring God back in America , and Christians need to reunite .
