Don’s favorite two models – I’m always asked of all the models I have built , do I have a favorite one ?
Because each new model is another one of a kind piece , I’ll have to say these latest two are my favorites . I think the big shovels with all the big hydraulics and the big buckets and sitting so high off the ground are very cool . I do love all types of machinery , big and small , and trucks, trains , ships, etc. But seeing these two large shovels side by side and knowing I started with just a piece of flat sheet metal and two very small drawings from the brochure , I am pretty proud of my lates two accomplishments. (:>).
You-Tube Video – Deb just posted the clip on you-tube of me raising the boom, opening the bucket and swinging the model around. We will post another You-Tube clip of the models in the trailer and the motorhome loaded with models for deliver .
It sometimes even amazes me that from a flat old piece of sheet metal , I was able to shape it into these final shapes that slightly resemble real machines.
People who operate and work on these real machines everyday E-mail me and tell me they are surprised these models look so close to the real ones they work on. That makes me feel pretty good .
It is surely a labor of love, because at the end of the day after all my hours and all my costs , it works out I make very close to minimum wage to make these models.
