Snow Covered Front of House

Otsego County

Deb snapped this picture as we returned from getting the mail yesterday. It shows our front yard now after the Unimog and snowblower got rid of most of the front snowbank along the road. You can see my path to the back yard and see where the Unimog ended blowing the snow. I had to clean up my path with my mini loader when he got done but it was well worth it.

For over 30 years I have kept a daily record of the weather and my daily exercise and a sentence or two of what Deb and I did that day. Yesterday I looked back on March 1st just a year ago and was surprised how it felt like only weeks ago. You don’t realize how fast time is going until you see it on paper. I was looking back to see how many times it snowed last March and the average temperature one year ago. Well, it isn’t pretty, it only snowed 12 days so that isn’t bad but the cold temps were bad. Most days last March were 10 to 15 degrees for highs and only two days towards the end of the month did it hit 40 degrees. In other words, it looks like this month is going to be very cold the whole month. I didn’t even want to look at last April yet, haha.

It is 4 below zero this morning and we will probably hop on I-75 and drive north 10 or 15 miles to see how many icy spots there are. We did not hear of any bad accidents yesterday so that was good.

We really have cabin fever but with the icy roads, we are very limited and were staying close to home. Every side street in Gaylord is snow-covered and slippery and has been for over 2 months.
