New Diesel Locomotive for Michigan Railroads. – Well , it is a new Michigan built Diesel Locomotive but the chances are slim it will fit on the Michigan railroads, ha,ha.

Todays picture show I picked up the eight 1/4 inch thick steel rings and the eight 1/4 inch thick circle plates. It cost $200.00 for these 16 pieces. Each wheel will weigh about 25 to 30 lbs. In this picture I have already compressed the rings and welded them together .
But now since Deb took this photo I now have all the rings welded to the circles. Next I will put the shafts through the circle centers and weld them . After that i will weld the axle shafts to the circles. So it is safe to say the wheel truck assemblies are going to be heavy but they will support the train model weight without failure. I’m still hoping to get everything welded and get the trucks bolted to the main frame for the first time by this weekend. Today I also ordered steel for the section of rail that will go under the model. This weekend I hope to also go get the lumber for the dozens of railroad ties. that will be attached to the rails under the model.
I am a week behind schedule for Jan. . on the train progress because of the five days of plowing snow. Usually snow days I don’t work in the shop. It gives me a nice day of being outside playing in the snow.
