Handbuilt Cab for $400.00

Home Made Cab- When I bought my jd5400 I did not want to spend the $8,000.00 on the deluxe factory cab but Deb talked me into it. And I thanked her many times over the years for getting that fancy cab. But the cab I am building for my mini loader is just $400.00 and perfect for stopping the cold wind as i play out in the driveway and the neighbors driveways . I don’t really want to make it air tight or the windows will fog up so i mostly want to keep the wind from blowing on me. I will keep some open areas in the floor that will open or close to inusre the windows won’t fog up. Maybe later I can plumb some heat from the engine. My thoughts are to mount a self powered 6 foot 2 stage snowblower on the loader arms and then I would have to have the cab warm .
Lexan Windows- This stuff is sure nice working with it . It cost me about $225 for the Lexan but this stuff is nearly indestructible . I took a strip of it and bent it completley in half and hit it with the hammer and it folded completely together and did not break.
Got to be careful when cleaning it to minimize scratches but I really like working with it already.
Today I will peel off the protective paper . I also added a 6 inch front visor to stop some of the rain/ wet snow on the windshield . I am very pleased to have a $400.00 cab on this mini loader.
I also still have to mount the rear orange lights on the rear corners of the cab and mount small mirrors on each side of the front and mount a couple grab handles . So it is taking shape.
Halloween – Seemed like trick or treater numbers were down last night . Cold and rainy was probably the reason.
Nicole and Bill got to go meet their new neighbors and trick or treat with Terak in their future neighborhood. They should start digging the basement in two weeks.
Have a great Thurs.
