John Deere 5400 plowing snow in Gaylord

John Deere 5400 with 84 inch Erskine Snowblower and front snowscoop with reversable side wings. – We got a few inches of snow yesterday and overnight last night . I fired up the 12 year old John Deere and had fun playing in the snow. It has been a good tractor with the exception of at 40 hours it quit because of a faulty fuel pump that had to be replaced. Other than that it has been my best buy. Plenty of power even in the heaviest wet snow and the front mounted snowscoop can stack snow very high . The four wheel drive is pricelss on ice as this tractor goes through just about anything. In the 12 years i have plowed with this tractor I have never got it stuck even once. I guess I got to give credit to the great operator in the drivers seat for that, LOL
When I can’t stack the snow any higher I can turn around and throw it 40 feet with the 7 foot wide Erskine rear snowblower. The blower was more expensive than some of the other models but the parts all looked much heavier built. And now after 12 years of using it it is still going strong. I priced a new 5000 series simlar tractor with loader and front scoop/blade and new Erskine 84 in. snowblower a while back and it would cost around $60,000.00 for that package . So that made me very glad I took good care of it all these years. (:>) Deb is very glad too because it gives her more spending money, ha,ha.
Chessie GP-40 Train – Today I am working inside the cab , it is pretty tight in there , actually the roof panel is removable and I working through the roof opening . I got the floor put in yesterday and will start designing the seats today.
Day 6 of weightwatchers and going strong !! My breakfasts are , one fresh orange, one fresh banana, 8 almonds and a half a cup of shredded wheat with lowfat milk. A great healthy way to start the morning.
Have a great Tues. !!
