Mackinaw Bridge Accident – Today Deb and I headed to the Charlevoix Apple Festival and then decided to drive up to Mackinaw City one last time this fall. As we got out of our car at Mackinaw City we heard several sirens go off and then we saw a emergency vehicle heading towards the on ramp of the Mackinaw Bridge.
About a half hour later a worker in one of the shops said there was a semi truck and car accident on the bridge. We drove over to the beach and took this picture. The local news said the semi crossed all the lanes and bounched off the guardrail three times hitting a car heading north . Very strong winds and rain were the weather conditions when we were there. You can see between the two upright towers many semi trucks stopped but they turned around all the other smaller vehicles and got them off the bridge. We figured had we decided to go over the bridge we would have been stuck in that traffic and that would have been very scary. I’m sure the Gaylord Herald Times and TV 9&10 will report it at 5:00 . We also passed Ron’s wrecker heading towards the bridge with one if his heavy duty wreckers.
Have a nice Friday
