Morel Mushrooms and Gaylord Resident Don Campbell gets ready to taste them.

Lewiston Mushroom Festival and
Boyne City Mushroom Festival –
Todays picture shows Otsego County Mushroom lover Don Campbell getting ready to taste the first fresh picked, early dark Morel Mushrooms of the 2009 Mushroom season. So far the picking has been very light , but here is part of the first batch we brought home from the woods. We usually get several quarts each year of the early dark ones. They seem to be more moist and tasty than the late white ones. We do not eat the white ones.
Deb always cleans them, then dips them in egg , then rolls them in fresh crushed cracker crumbs and I pop them in our mini deep fryer until golden brown. UMM !! Biting through that outside crunchy coating and then tasting that rich , nutty taste of the mushrrom is Heavenly !! It just wouldn’t feel like spring without a few batches of fresh Morels (:>). Lewiston , Michigan always has a Mushroom Festival every year and so does Boyne City. These are two towns near Gaylord. The Gaylord Herald Times was looking for a picture of some Morels , I should send them these , ha,ha.
Liehberr parts Primed- This afternoon I will get the last big parts primed. Than I will wet sand the primed parts next.
Have a Great Tues.
