Sheplers Boat dock at Mackinaw today

Truck stranded on ice – It has been a full month of nasty slippery roads around Gaylord and we have not left town once.
This morning the sun was shining and I-75 was dry and we decided to drive up to Mackinaw City for lunch. 99% of the town is closed but the one place we like to eat is always open . Mackinaw Pastie Shop is where We have stopped for 40 years and today they were just as fresh and yummy as they always were. They are like a meat pie with a thin crunchy crust on them. They come with gravy , coleslaw and a homeade cookie. Everything is still hand made everyday and even on a slow winter day they told us they still sell over 200 of them. Just the short time we sat there eating our meal 10 people stopped in and each of them bought 4 or 6 pasties to go . So that was between 40 to 60 of them in that short time. Yes the prices have gone up but the quality is still there and that makes it ok.
As we drove around Mackinaw City I looked down at the Sheplers boat dock and saw a truck with a snowplow sitting on the ice with nobody around it. We thought maybe the front plow and front axle of the truck may have started to break through the ice and they went to get a long cable to pull it back to shore ,
Garden tractor progress- I took a little break last week from the shop as i spent about everyday playing in the snow. But tomorrow i got a list of projects to work on and should get a video of me driving the jd 730 and the jd hot rod tractor of Teraks for the very first time. I found a new carb for Teraks tractor on e-bay and it should arrive Tues. I did fumble with the old carb and used JB Weld on the stripped threads on the lower jets . It actually runs pretty good but drips a little gas so i am glad ordered the new one. I figured I had nothing to lose trying the JB Weld.
Freezing Rain – It is just starting to rain here in Gaylord and looks like a lot of it coming so it is going to be another ice storm for us tonight .
Have a great Sunday
