Dreaming of Summer Fun, Still a Ways Off

Mackinaw Island

Today is the second day in a row above 40 degrees in Gaylord, yippee! But back to below zero again tomorrow, grrr.

I hand washed my truck and the Cadillac in the driveway today and this is the first time my driveway has been dry in over 3 months. I chopped ice a few hours yesterday in my driveway. None of my neighbor’s driveways are even close to melting yet. Just a dry driveway makes me think it is spring, ha,ha. It’s the little things.

Many thoughts of spring and summer have been in my mind the last two days. Mackinaw Island is always on our list of summer destinations.
I don’t think we have missed a summer visit to the Island in 40 years. Even if Deb and I just ride the boat over for lunch we have to go to Mackinaw Island and enjoy those smells. You know those smells if you ever been there, ha, ha. Lilacs and fudge are the smells we like better than the horsey smells though, ha,ha. We like to go during the Lilac festival. No matter how it smells on the island it is always great fun. Terak has gone twice now and this will be his third year and he should really enjoy the horses now.
We always eat lunch at the Pink Pony Grill overlooking the harbor and marina.

Nothing wrong with a little daydreaming to get us through.

Camping

I’ve also been thinking about camping in the motorhome and all the fun we have. We’ve had two motorhomes so for 20 years we have enjoyed the campgrounds and the campfires. That is why I love campfires when we stay at the farm. Something so simple makes so many fun memories. We usually have marshmallow cooking Olympics to see who can make that 100% perfect golden brown marshmallow. We also like to play in the fire and often get lightly burned, lol. Mostly me hahaha. Good Times!

Have a great Tues. Think Spring!!
