Waterloo, Iowa – This picture is from a few years ago on one our several visits to the Waterloo Tractor Assembly Plant. We toured the John Deere plant over 6 or 7 times on our annual trips to Dyersville to the National Farm Toy Show. I always felt excited each visit seeing the new tractors being put together. Each time we went we would have to wait a few minutes before the tour started and I always enjoyed looking at the large scale John Deere models like this one on display in the lobby. I always dreamed of making a large John Deere Tractor model. But mine would be a 9000 series that articulated and would probably be about 1/6th scale. I also want to build a half scale working model of it too someday. I used to stare at the tires and wish I had them because i knew if I did I could make a cool model with them similar to this model.
I have always had a love for big tires my whole life and even now at my age I still love machines with big tires and also machines with lots of tires.
Cat 797F Engine and driveline – Today I started working on the driveline and the engine on the big truck model. Now the overall shape of the model is done I can see more progress as I start to go back and detail all the areas of the truck. By this weekend it should look real good.
P&H 5700 – If all goes well by the weekend I could start scaling up the first drawing of the P&H 5700 shovel.
2 INCHES OF NEW SNOW- We got a little fresh snow today but not enough to go plow but I did shovel much of the driveway and walk into a good sized pile and fired up the Waldon and got four full scoops in the bucket and played a few minutes on that. (:>).
