Brian – On our trip to D.C. we used to always stop over for the night at Somerset, Penn. That was about as far as we wanted to drive in one day . So over the years we would drive around town and get some supper and even found out where the local John Deere Dealership was. So we usually drove through the parking lot to check out the nice shiny green tractors. This last trip we made it to Somerset and we decided to go to the jd dealer and check out the 12v jd tractors to see if they had one like the one we got for Terak. We looked around and they had a nice selection of toys and then we walked outside and one of the mechanics followed us outside and asked if we were from around the area. He kinda smiled and he kinda knew we were not . I told him no were not and I asked him if he was on the internet. And then he said your Don Campbell , aren’t you ? Deb and i smiled and he smiled and I said yes I am . His name was Brian and he told us about all the projects he liked that I had built over the years. He said he was a mechanic on the big draglines in the mines and things slowed down and he went to work at the jd dealership. I told him how we rode on one of the big draglines and he said he did too on the same one. He said maybe sometime we could go see where they rebuild them and i said that would be great. It is always pretty cool when someone says hi to Deb and I when we are far from home and they know us from my webpage. After getting some of the photos out on my i-phone several other mechanics came over to see my projects and they were all very nice. Even the manager Dennis stopped and enjoyed seeing the mini tractors I am making.
Maybe next time through we will stop and visit them again and maybe my jd 9630 will be done and I can show them the photos of it . Thanks Brian and Dennis for a nice visit.
Have a great Tues.
