When not in the workshop, Deb and I have continued to do a lot of camping in the summers. Our favorite locations are Sault Ste Marie and Traverse City, Michigan. I love seeing the freighters at the Soo and when we’re in Traverse, we enjoy all that area has to offer. Unfortunately, we did not do any camping this year but instead decided to do some projects around the house. We planted some edible landscaping and painted the side of my back shed to look like a barn. We also added some white fencing and an arbor in the front yard to break up some of the red bricks on our house.
In our daily routines, Deb and I still walk together every morning. We are healthy but struggle with our weight. We enjoy weekly car rides to some of our favorite local places, including Mackinaw City, Petoskey, Boyne and Charlevoix. We also continue to make visits downstate now and again to visit close friends of ours who own a large farm.
We added acrylic painting to our list of things to do a couple of years ago and that has been fun as well. I still love heading to the workshop and puttering a few hours at least five days a week though. Most recently, I finished up 5 models and they were just delivered recently. These were the first models I have built since shutting down the blog 7 years ago.
I currently have 13 miniature machines in my backyard that I also have built. Some of them featured on the YouTube clip where I walked around the yard above. I also still have over 200 tires and rims for future toy projects.
In other vehicle news, I had a 6 inch lift kit and 35 inch tires added to my 1996 GMC Z-71 truck I bought brand new. Today it has 35,000 miles. I also bought a new bright red GMC 4-door truck. It has 2000 miles on it. I also still like Corvettes and last year put a deposit on a brand new red one but the deal fell through.
OK, now let’s get to today! On my workbench today sits my latest model. It’s a Wagner L90 Logstacker. It is over half completed. Also on my bench today are 2 tires to be used on my first large scale pulling tractor model. Moving over to my desk, I several photos of a Bron 550 tile machine and several photos of a 1959 CAT D9 dozer. Last on my desk is a photo of a pedal tractor. I have always wanted to build a very detailed, precision pedal tractor. So that brings us up to date today!
Be sure to check back often for my daily progress. Might take a few more days to get the hang of it again!
