O&K RH-400 Mining Shovel- Todays picture shows another Mining machine I have wanted to build ever since I climbed in the seat of a RH-200 and scooped rocks with it. But instead of building the RH-200 , Leon from Va. who is a serious toy collector now has a confirmed order for the RH-400 . The model will be built this summer and delivered to the 2009 National Truck and Construction Toy Show in Indy at the Adams Mark Hotel. This will be another excellent large model to build.
SNOW TO FREEZING RAIN TODAY IN GAYLORD- This morning it is 30 degrees and light freezing rain has turned our driveway into a skating rink. Hopefully it will warm up a few degrees and melt the ice.
Soo Locks Ice Breakers and Mike Row from Dirtiest Jobs- Two area ice breakers have left port and are now opening up the first of the shipping channels. Mike Row from the TV show ( Dirtiest Jobs ) is at the Soo Locks today , not sure what kind of dirt he is looking for there, ha,ha. Probably cleaning out the rotten fish stuck under the Soo Locks , LOL
Saginaw Bay Ice breaks windows. – Deb and I used to pass through Linwood , Michigan a lot heading to Bay City from Gaylord. I bought one of my motorcycles at Linwood. Today on the news it showed the beach of Saginaw Bay in Linwood and the ice flow moved onto the shore from the Bay and actually pushed through to a bay side home and onto the front porch and the ice pushed through the front windows and inside the house almost like slow moving lava would do. Very strange to see .
Gaylord Meijers Store – Gaylord is getting a brand new Meijers Store and it opens the first part of April !! Yippee !! That will be great !as it will give Deb and I one more place to go hang out during the six months of winter we don’t leave town, ha, ha.
Although it will create many new jobs, most of them will be minimum wage and less than 30 hours a week and little to no benefits. And it will also cause many layoffs at the three other stores in Gaylord from a loss of thier weekly business. Years ago I worked in Mt.Pleasant at Krogers and when the new Meijers Store opened up in that town , we lost 25% of our business and never got it back.
So there are plus and minuses , but we are very excited for the new Meijers in Gaylord !!
DAY 65 – Deb and I been counting calories now for 65 days and have really done pretty good. Although we are not seeing much weight loss , we stil have stopped stuffing ourselves at meal times. We have also stopped eating in resturaunts where the calories are just outragious and very hard to control. It is just plain hard to lose weight as we get older.
BERLIET OILFIELD TRUCK PROGRESS- Today I am working on the air cleaner assemblies and starting the front radiator. Deb had a snow day yesterday and after plowing snow we went and goofed off together and I didn’t work in the shop after plowing snow.
