Big Bud 747 – Todays picture is of me and Nicole next to one of two Big Bud 747 Toy Tractors I built.
I built the first one for Fred and Nancy Searson from Kenton, Ohio and the second one for Bob Ludolph from Pikestone, Minn.
Each one was unique as one was the early look and the other was the newer updated version. These two Big bud 747 were my favorite two farm toys I ever built. Mostly because they were the biggest farm toys I ever . I just love large scale models because they seem so much more real than the tiny toys .
As a little boy I never had a toy tractor and I only had one toy truck my mom got at a gas station when I was about 10 years old.
Maybe that is also part of the enjoyment I get from my toy building hobby knowing these days I can make any toy tractor or toy truck I could have ever wanted as a little boy.
Nicole designed the decals for the Big Buds so that was pretty cool to have her be a part of them.
I still want to build more farm toys someday , I want to build a large scale John Deere and a large scale IH 4 wheel drive tractor.
The 4 wheel drive , articulating tractors have always been my favorite. If I lived in the country, I would own a full sized , real 4 wheel drive , articulating tractor and have a front snowblade on it to play in the snow with it every winter. That would be awesome ! But for now, I am very content just making large scale models.
I would still like to build a large scale Cat or Euclid scraper in 1/8th scale. I also loves scrapers .
I don’t ever plan on retiring , when you love what you do , it doesn’t even seem like work. I can’t wait each day to get to the shop and make more progress on the next model.
I feel very lucky to be able to walk out to my nice little workshop and enjoy my out of control hobby, ha,ha.
Sometimes I look at the 100+ different models I have built over the last 12 years and each one brings back their own special memories to me as each new model is a part of my life locked in time.
They are like individual metal art projects. I remember in art class in High School we had to make something out of metal , mostly wire and I had a hard time . I think if the teacher would have given me 4 tires I would have done much better, ha,ha.
Northern Michigan Morel Mushrooms- LOOKS GOOD TODAY ! Our mushroom friend called last night and said he scouted out his spots a few days ago in the woods and the season is a week or 10 days behind last year. The cold nights are the reason. He said he will go out again today and will call us this afternoon.
But it sounds real good we will be eating a small batch of frsh picked, deep fried breaded morel mushrooms tonight , umm !!
Heading out to walk three miles- We are getting ready to go for our first three mile walk . You would think after walking almost everyday for over 25 years, it would be easy. But as we get older our old bodies are wearing out. (:>). But we know it would be much worse if a doctor suddenly told us we had to start exercising and we never did. So we know this is very good for us.
Attitude sets your Day – Dr. Phil said this week that it is a fact that our daily attitude decides how we feel that day.
He did a study of several people , some were in wheel chairs and time after time, the people with the positive attitude handled the same illness twice as well just by taking charge of their mind and seeing the positive in that day. Deb and I could dread getting out and walking the long three miles every day, year after year knowing we weren’t getting thinner, instead we see it as positve and it makes the walk very nice . We know regardless of the fact we don’t get thin, we remind each other how big we could be if we had never walked all these years.
END OF THE WORLD – I know that in my lifetime I have heard people say it was getting close to the end of the world.
Especially Preachers, but we have been in much worse times than these many times ,many years ago.
The drugs are sure selling great though so at least that business is booming ?
I can enjoy today without worry knowing my Heavenly Father knows the exact day of the end of this old world.
And I am smart enough to know it could be today so I am not going to waste it worrying. Instead Deb and I are going to have another fun day together .
