Camping down on the farm – We had a great three days in the motorhome parked on the farm . Every farmer for miles was busy in the fields planting corn. One afternoon we hopped in the car and just rode around watching all the farmers busy at work. My stepdad is now retired from farming but the farm was busy with tractors coming and going all weekend .
It’s sad to see my folks getting so old , they are moving around much slower this year than last year. And we see more than ever ,the time is coming when us kids have to start thinking about that first talk with them about not letting them drive the car anymore.
When people tell you they saw your parents almost get hit for driving too slow or almost got hit when they pulled out in front of someone , that is pretty scary for them as well as the other people on the roads.
I think what I am going to do is get with my brother and two sisters and set up the next few weeks to have them all go for a ride with them and let my folks drive to the nearest city and back while they ride in the backseat . I will wait and go last because I got a good idea they won’t want to go ?
This is the hardest time in a elderly persons life because then they lose their independence , and also at that point the kids then have to start being involved in their private lives everyday .
But even sadder yet, it reminds me I am not that many years away from going through the same old age process myself.
So today I am certainly enjoying being home and enjoying being back in the workshop.
Have a Great Tues.
