Cat 657E Coal Scraper- Todays picture shows the next model project I am starting on this week. I got the axles built and now I have the front lower frame attached to the front axle and I am working on building the front fenders next. I also got several more sets of stairs and railings attached to the rear of the Ship Model. I am working on both models .
It was a great day in the shop with cool air and it felt like fall.
Breckenridge B&W Grain Elevator- As a little boy I grew up across the street from a large grain elevator . I loved fall because all the farmers drove their tractors to town pulling wagons full of corn and beans. All the farmers would sit at the tables and eat free donuts and drink coffee. My friend used to get paid to keep the lines of tractors moved forward. He let me ride with him and that was my defining moment to get hooked on tractors. (:>). Then my mom remarried a farmer and I was in my glory driving our own shiny green John Deeres. Fall will always be special to me remembering harvest time and the late night tractor driving . I especially remember disking cornstalks a few years on Halloween night watching the cars going by wondering if they were filled with kids going trick or treating.
My childhood memories were not all good ones, but the ones on the farm were 99% great (:>). The only thing I did not like doing on the farm was hoeing beans. Thank goodness weed sprayers came along , ha,ha.
I love Fresh Apple Cider and Fresh Homeade Donuts and Fresh Carmel Apples in the fall too. I just like fall the best.
We had a great Summer and now we are ready to look towards fall.
Two more days we head to Buckley to the Steam Engine Tractor Show. Should be fun.
Some of you know the story about Breckenridge and the farm but I repost it once a year for the new visitors.
Have a great Tues.
