Garden Tractors- Home made tractors have been a part of my life since I was 13 years old. I sold my bicycle and bought the neighbors 12 hp doodlebug . I had so much fun driving it in the 2 tracks through the oil fields north of our farm. I was obsessed with that little home made tractor playing and puttering and spending quality time together.
Then one day I met this girl and i took her for a ride in it and we ended up behind the barn. After that day my interests changed and the doodlebug was sold and I bought myself a cool car with a nice big back seat. Sad to say the girl left me by then , ha,ha. But the rest of my life I remembered that girl/doodlebug, ha,ha,ha.
I was starting high school and it was time to get a real job in the city and my dad said no money to be made on the farm.
Now I am a Senior again and Deb is thinking of leaving me if I buy one more stinking tractor !!! LOLH
Just kidding , Deb has taught me so much over the years behind the barn who cares about tractors??
Anyway back to todays picture you can see the first mirror assembly in place , the first cab overhang on with two lights on top, the adjustable side flashing light assembly and two of the rear tail light assemblies. Most of all todays picture shows me starting on the front hood fabrication. Still got to use your imagination but as I look at the 1/32nd scale jd toy tractor it has many of the same looks. I am still very excited about this long awaited 4×4 tractor project.
Steel Delivered Today – My 5 sheets of steel arrived today and I headed over and I sheared it up. Now i am good to go with the rest of this project, the Degelman front Silage Blade project and possibly a rear scraper or a pair of them to hook on the rear.
Have a great Thurs. !!
