Big Bud 747 Model Project with Video Compilation of Photos

Don Campbell Maker Scratch Built 747 Big Bud Tractors

The YouTube video below shows the photos I have of many of the steps involved in building two scratch-built, 1/10 scale Big Bud 747s. The models were built from 18 gauge sheet metal, then welded and bolted together.

The 10-inch by 5-inch diameter wide tires had to get wider rims. I used spacers and welded them together. The dummy axles were 58 inch threaded rod. The tractor models weighed over 60 pounds. One of the models went to an Ohio collector friend. The other tractor went to a Minnesota collector friend. Only the first one was ever displayed at the National Farm Toy Show in Dyersville Iowa. The second tractor was transferred in Appleton Wisconsin. These are the only two Big Buds I have built. I really like Big Bud tractors and could one day build another one at a different size. I have built several different brands of tractors but they are all one of a kind models. The only reason I built two 747 Big Buds is both collectors agreed for me to build the two different versions. One with a white hood and silver exhaust stacks and the other with black exhaust stacks and black on top of the hood. Decals made by my daughter Nicole.

I also added a few photos of me and the Williams brothers, and wife and daughter. They were very nice people. Not sure where the tractors are today. Confirming I only built two of them. They were very fun to build!
